ITHACA, N.Y.- The La Salle women's swimming and diving team sits in second place after the second day of the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational.
The Explorers had four individuals finish in the top three in events on Saturday. Junior Eva Marie Østerhus won the 200 freestyle race thanks to a time of 1:52.68. She was followed closely by classmate
Kaitlyn Hay who crossed in second with a time of 1:53.33. Sophomore
Rory Kearns finished ninth out of 66 competitors thanks to a time of 1:56.77.
Sophomore
Emma Smith crossed in second place in the 400 IM race out of 32 entries. Smith swam a 4:30.43 in the event. Sophomores
Hannah Elliott and
Danielle Thomas also finished in the top 10 with times of 4:38.35 and 4:44.36 for seventh and ninth respectively.
Freshman
Olivia DiStefano touched in second place out of 56 entries in the 100 backstroke thanks to a time of 57.75.
Elliott also turned in a strong time in the 100 butterfly event where she finished in 58.96 for a 10
th place finish out of 48 entries.
Sophomore
Madeline Koelsch used a time of 1:07.10 in the 100 breaststroke to finish in eighth place out of 41 entries.
Junior
Julia Mann touched in sixth place in the 200 butterfly field of 25 thanks to a time of 2:12.52.
The 800 freestyle relay team turned in the top time on the day. The team of Hay, Smith, Kearns, and Østerhus beat the competition thanks to a time of 7:30.96.
The women's 400 medley relay team and 200 freestyle relay teams also turned in strong performances for second place finishes.
