DELAND, Fla.- The La Salle baseball team fell 7-4 to the Stetson Hatters in the series finale at Melching Field on Sunday afternoon after taking the first two games of the series.
The Hatters scored three runs in the bottom of the 7
th to break a 4-4 tie and avoid the series sweep. La Salle righty
Alex Faust (L, 0-1) allowed two runs in 1.1 innings.
Stetson reliever Walker Sheller (W, 1-0) tossed 1.2 shutout innings, allowing two hits while striking out a pair. Tyler Warmoth (S, 1) pitched two scoreless frames to earn the save, allowing a hit while striking out four.
Stetson took a 1-0 lead on a Tyler Bocock solo homer in the 3
rd before
Joey Ravert answered with a solo shot in the 5
th to tie the game.
When the Hatters posted two runs in the bottom half of the 5
th to take a 3-1 lead, La Salle's
Cameron Johnson smacked a three-run homer to put La Salle in front 4-3.
Johnson was one of four Explorers to have a multi-hit game as La Salle outhit Stetson 9-6. Ravert,
Josh Savakinus and
Justin Korenblatt also had two hits for La Salle.
Freddy Andujar started for the Explorers, giving up three runs on two hits and two walks over five innings.
The Explorers are back in action next weekend as they visit Charleston Southern for a three-game series at CSU Ballpark.
