GENEVA, Ohio- Cameron Fadley and
CJ Gimpel earned silver medals to help the La Salle men's swimming and diving team tally 131 team points on day two at the Atlantic 10 Championships. The Explorers now have 181 total points and are in 4th place heading into Friday's events.
Fadley earned the silver in the 200-yard IM (17 points) to lead the way with a time of 1:49.23, tying Ron Karnaugh's school record from 1986.
The Explorers took home a total of 46 points among Fadley,
Johan Roth,
Kip Gravel and
Strahinja Stankovic.
Johan Roth in 5
th and Gravel in 7
th. Roth turned in a time of 1:49.90 while Gravel clocked 1:50.75, and Stankovic earned three points by taking 14
th (1:52.74).
Gimpel scored 269.60 on the 1-meter dive to earn a share of the silver with Massachusetts' Robert Barry. Gimpel brought home 16.5 points while
Dylan Yurasits earned 15 points for 4
th place (256.80) and
Chase Ott earned 12 points with a 7
th place finish (217.90).
Mattias Glenesk placed 6th in the 500-yd freestyle (4:30.46) to earn 13 points to get the evening started for the Blue and Gold.
Jonathan Cabral earned 6.5 points with a 10
th place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (20.83). Cabral was also a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay team (
Justin Hughes,
Sammy Odtallah, Roth) that finished 8
th to earn 22 points.
Friday's preliminaries kick off at 10 a.m. with the 400-yard individual medley.
