Box Score CHARLESTON, S.C.- An RBI double from Cameron Johnson in the top of the 15th lifted the La Salle baseball team to a 9-8 win over Charleston Southern on Sunday afternoon at CSU Ballpark, clinching a second straight series win for the Explorers to start the season.
Ethan Springston singled up the middle to start the 15th before moving to second when Justin Korenblatt was hit by a pitch to set the table for Johnson's game-winning RBI.
Mark Williams (W, 1-0), who started the game at first base, didn't allow a hit over the final three innings to earn the win.
After falling behind early, the Explorers scored two runs in the 7th and six runs in the 8th to take an 8-4 lead before the Bucs mounted their own comeback.
Ryan Welling tied the game at 4-4 with a two-run homer in the 8th to spark a six-run inning that gave the Explorers an 8-4 lead.
After the Welling homer, a Cameron Johnson RBI single to give La Salle their first lead of the game at 5-4. A two-run double from Josh Savakinus and an RBI single from Mark Williams made it a four-run game.
The Bucs didn't go quietly, scoring three runs in their half of the 8th before a Brandon Burris RBI single tied it up with two outs in the 9th.
Both teams were scoreless until back-to-back doubles from Robbie Streett and Austin and Sam Remick gave the home team a 2-0 advantage.
