Baseball Plays Host to Big 5 Bash This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA –The La Salle baseball team will play host to three games this weekend as part of the Big 5 Baseball Bash.

Explorer Notes
-La Salle has tallied nine or more runs in five of their six victories this season.
-The Explorers are hitting .304 as a team through Wednesday, which is 32nd in the country.
-The Blue and Gold have clocked 14 homers this season through Wednesday, which is tied for 17th in Division I.
-The Explorers hold a 4-1 all-time advantage over Wagner after earning a 8-7 win over the Seahawks in their last meeting (March 15, 2013).
 
Northeastern Notes
- The Huskies sport a 78-97-1 all-time record (.446) against active A-10 programs, and will meet La Salle and Saint Joseph's for the first time in program history this weekend.
- Northeastern is one of only four teams in Division I that has two players ranked in the top 50 of batting average as of March 12. Infielder Michael Foster (.500 avg., 23-for-46) is ranked in a tie for sixth nationally, while outfielder Pat Madigan (.429 avg., 21-for-49) is tied for 48th overall.
-Redshirt-junior Michael Foster has recorded three triples in 12 games this season, which is currently tied for the 10th most in the NCAA.
-The Huskies lost 2-1 in extra innings in an exhibition against the Boston Red Sox on March 3.
 
Niagara Notes
-The Purple Eagles picked up their first win of the season on Thursday over La Salle after starting the year 0-9.
-Michael Furhman leads the club in hitting (.379) while Thomas Rodrigues has a team-best 18 RBI's to go with a .364 batting average.
 
Wagner Notes
- Junior Ben Ruta currently has a ten-game hitting streak dating back to last season. The junior leads the team in hitting with a .323 batting average (10-for-31).
-The Seahawks are 15-47-1 against current members of the Atlantic-10 Conference, and have lost seven straight games against A-10 schools.
- Wagner senior catcher Nick Dini is one of 75 backstops to be named to the official watch list for the 2015 Johnny Bench Award, given annually to the top Division I collegiate catcher.
