STONY BROOK, N.Y.- The La Salle men's track and field team used nine different scorers to fuel them to a third place finish at the Stony Brook Quad meet on Saturday afternoon.

Chris Sanders won the 600 meter run thanks to a time of 1:20.33 to earn five points towards the team score. The sophomore was 2.09 seconds clear of the nearest competitor in his win. Classmates
Gregory Dix and
Dallas Penny also ran with times of 1:26.72 and 1:34.34 respectively for seventh and 13
th places overall.

Two Explorers earned points in the 2000 meter steeplechase with sophomores
John Pujols and
David Ozarowski finishing in second and third. Pujols ran a 6:17.78 and Ozarowski was close behind in 6:22.11. Senior
Ben Pershall and sophomore
Trent Mangold also entered the field of nine running 6:30.02 and 6:45.28 times respectively for fifth and seventh places.

Stephen Lewandowski and junior
Chris Trimble each earned points in the 800 meter run. Lewandowski ran a 1:59.08 and Trimble ran 2:02.61 for second and third respectively. Freshman Joseph Leconey also competed with a time of 2:04.39 for ninth place in the 12 man event.

Four Explorers entered the 300 meter dash with freshman
Justin Guerre having the best finish with a 36.64 time good for third place and a point in the standing. Junior Josh Byrd and sophomore
Cris Hunter were the next two to cross the finish line coming in fourth and fifth respectively with times of 36.71 and 37.16. Freshman Matthew Knoll also competed with a time of 39.50 good for 11
th in the 27 man field.

Freshman
Michael Hagan picked up a point for La Salle thanks to a third place finish in the 400 meter dash. Hagan ran a 55.38 and was a mere .4 seconds off the winner in the six man field.

Michael Santeramo earned a point in the javelin throw thanks to a toss of 51.36m in the 11 man field.

Senior
Nick Ross finished in second place in the 1500 meter run to earn three points towards the team score. Ross ran a 4:05.18 and was just .37 seconds off of the winner. Junior Alex Gallo also ran with a time of 4:26.84 to finish in 16
th of the 23 man field.

Junior Tim Flanagan and freshman
Chris Berry competed in the 3000 meter run finishing in 12
th and 15
th in the 26 man field. Flanagan ran a 9:02.98 while Berry crossed in 9:05.71.

La Salle returns to action next week at the Colonial Relays beginning next Friday in Williamsburg, Virginia.
