Box Score PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – The La Salle baseball team fell to the Villanova Wildcats 3-1 in nonconference action at Villanova Ballpark on Tuesday afternoon.
Josh Savakinus and
Ryan Welling each had two hits for the Explorers, who took a 1-0 lead in the top of the 3
rd on a
Cameron Johnson RBI groundout following a Savakinus triple.
The Wildcats tied the game in the home half of the 3
rd on a sac fly from Kevin Jewitt, and took a 2-1 lead in the 6
th on Eric Lowe's RBI single. La Salle righty
Greg Krug (L, 0-1) allowed an earned run in 1.1 innings after entering with one out in the 4
th.
After Villanova starter Jeff Courter limited La Salle to one run in four innings, Kagan Richardson (W, 3-0) threw five shutout innings to finish the game.
Villanova's Adam Goss made it 3-1 with an RBI double against
Greg Paprocki in the 7
th. Both clubs had five hits on the afternoon.
The Explorers are on the road against another Big 5 rival this weekend as they open a three-game set at St. Joseph's on Friday.
