PHILADELPHIA-The La Salle men's track and field team will send 20 athletes to compete in 12 individual events as well as two relays at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships at George Mason this weekend.

The action gets underway on Saturday with the Javelin where senior
Michael Santeramo will be in the 15 man field. Santeramo finished in third place last year thanks to a 55.28 meter toss and owns a far throw of 55.66 meters this season at the Lehigh Games.

Freshman
Kenneth Worthington will also compete in a field event on Saturday with the long jump taking place in the afternoon. Worthington is among 17 competitors in the field and is seeded seventh thanks to a 6.91 meter lead at the Rider Invitational.

The track events get underway with the 400 meter trials where sophomore
Cris Hunter is in the 25 man field. Hunter owns a fast time of 50.81 run at the Colonial Relays in early April.

Next on the slate is the 100 meter dash trials. Freshman
Justin Guerre is among the 18 men in the field for the event. He is seeded third in the event thanks to a 10.90 time he ran at the Colonial Relays.

Three Explorers will be in the 27 man field for the 800 meter trials. Sophomore
Chris Sanders is seeded second in the event and owns a fast time of 1:50.88 from the Colonial Relays. He is returning after winning the event as a freshman last season. Also entered are freshman Nicholas Smart and junior
Chris Trimble. Trimble owns a fast time of 1:54.05 and Smart of 1:55.47 from this season.

Sophomore
Nick Della Vecchia and freshman
Michael Hagan will be among 19 competitors in the 400 meter hurdles trials on Friday evening. Della Vecchia owns the fast time of the two this year with a 58.61 from the Larry Ellis Invitational.

Guerre will return to run in the 200 meter trials on Saturday evening in a field of 22. He owns a fast time of 22.01 run at the Philadelphia College Classic.

Three Explorers are entered in the 3000 meter Steeplechase in the field of 17. Sophomores
David Ozarowski and
John Pujols are joined by senior
Ben Pershall in the field. Ozarowski finished 12
th in the event last year and owns the fastest time of the group this season with a 9:23.87 run at the Colonial Relays.

The day comes to a close with the running of the 10,000 meter run on Saturday evening as La Salle will enter three competitors in the 14 man field. Senior
Nico Greco, sophomore Nick LeFavor and junior
Ian Barnhill are entered in the event. Greco finished in eighth last year at the Atlantic 10 Championships.

Day two of the championships begins with the 1500 meter run which will have two Explorers in the field of 25. Senior
Nick Ross and sophomore
Stephen Lewandowski are slated to compete in the event. Ross finished in second last year at the A-10 Championships and owns a fast time of 3:47.45 from the Larry Ellis Invitational. Lewandowki also ran his fast time at the Larry Ellis Invitational with a 3:47.54.

Worthington will return to compete in the high jump along with 13 other competitors. He is seeded in fourth thanks to a 2.00 meter jump from the indoor season.

The men's 5,000 meter run will feature three Explorers with freshmen
Bradley Heuer and Chris berry joined by senior
Vince Perozze. The senior finished in ninth last year at the event while Heuer owns the fast time of the group this season with a 14:33.25 from the Philadelphia College Classic.

The Explorers will also enter teams in both the 4x400 meter relay and the 4x800 meter relay. Last year the Explorers finished in fifth in the 4x400 meter relay and won the 4x800 meter relay at the Atlantic 10.

La Salle could also have runners in five other finals on Sunday if they qualify for the finals in the 400 meters, 100 meter dash, 800 meter run, 400 meter hurdles and 200 meter dash from the primary rounds on Saturday.Â
