Explorers Conclude Regular Season at Rhode Island

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle baseball team enters the final weekend of the regular season as they visit Rhode Island for a three-game series beginning on Thursday.

Scouting the Explorers
-The Explorers are looking to rebound from an 11-5 loss to Rider on Tuesday
-La Salle is 11-16 on the road this season
-The Explorers lead the A-10 in doubles (120), runs (334) and runs batted in (314) this season
-La Salle has four everyday players hitting over .300: Joey Ravert (.338), Ryan Welling (.328), Cameron Johnson (.317), and Mark Williams (.310)
- Joey Ravert is second in the A-10 in slugging percentage (.672), third in home runs (11) and sixth in RBI's (44)
-Josh Savakinus leads the league in doubles (21), and needs just two to the tie the La Salle single-season record. The senior is also fourth in the league in RBI's with 47
 
Scouting the Rams
-The Rams fell to Connecticut on Tuesday, but enter the weekend after six consecutive Atlantic 10 series wins. The Rams took two of three at UMass over the weekend.  
-URI is second in the A-10 with 83 stolen bases
- Chris Hess is hitting .313 on the season, and leads Rhody in hits (47) and runs scored (28). The redshirt freshman is third in the league with five triples
-Lefty starter Tyler Wilson leads the league in opponent batting average, limiting hitters to a .163 clip in 11 starts this season. The freshman is 8th in the league in innings pitched (76.1) and tied for 7th in strikeouts (64)
- Junior Brad Applin, sophomore Taso Stathopoulos and redshirt senior Brendan Doonan each have recorded two saves on the season out of URI's bullpen.
