PHILADELPHIA - Seven La Salle student-athletes were named the top student in their academic department at the Undergraduate Academic Awards brunch on Saturday morning as part of Commencement Weekend. In addition, two spirit team members were also recognized. 

This marks the most student-athletes recognized as the top student in the athletic department's history. There are 34 departments on campus and 26% had student-athletes or spirit team members with the top grade point average.

In addition, Jennifer Whelan of volleyball earned the athletic department's Academic Achievement Award for posting the top GPA of any student-athlete.
