Box Score MERION STATION, Pa. – The La Salle baseball team earned a 5-4 win over the Saint Joseph's Hawks on Saturday afternoon at Smithson Field to even the weekend series.
Reliever
Adam Cherry (S, 6) entered with two outs and the bases loaded in the 9th and induced a groundout to end the game and preserve the one-run lead.
Joey Ravert drilled a three-run homer in the 3
rd to erase a 3-0 lead for the Hawks, and finished 3-for-5 on the afternoon.
Travis George gave the Explorers the lead with an RBI double in the 4
th and added an insurance run with a sac fly in the 6
th.
La Salle starter
Luke Reilly improved to 6-2 on the year, settling down to toss six strong innings after allowing three runs on four hits in the 1
st. The lefty allowed just three hits over the next five innings, and struck out a total of six Hawks on the afternoon.
Jordan Meyer pitched two scoreless innings before running into some trouble in the 9
th. The righty got two quick outs following a leadoff single, and issued two singles and a walk before turning the ball over to Cherry with two outs in the 9
th.
