NCAA Preliminary Championship Information (live stats)
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Two La Salle student-athletes, sophomore
Chris Sanders and freshman
Morgan Szekely, will compete later this week at the NCAA Preliminary Championships at the University of North Florida.
Sanders is seeded 27th in the 800m with a time of 1:48.46. His first round is on Thursday, May 28 at 8:35 PM. The quarterfinals will take place on Friday, May 29 at 7:15 PM. Szekely will compete in the 1500m, where she is seeded 28th with a time of 4:21.79. She will run on Thursday, May 28 at 5:30 PM in the first round. If she advances, the quarterfinals will be on Saturday, May 30 at 6:30 PM.
Both student-athletes had outstanding seasons for the Explorers. Sanders successfully defended his Atlantic 10 Championship in the 800m by running a time of 1:51.85. His seed time of 1:48.46 was from the IC4A Championship on May 15. He also helped La Salle win its sixth straight A-10 title in the 4x800 relay.
Szekely was named the Most Outstanding Performer at the Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championship and hasn't looked back. She won the 1500m at the A-10 Outdoor Championship with her NCAA seed time of 4:21.79. Indoors, she finished second in the 3000m at A-10s. The top 12 performers for each event advance on to the NCAA Finals held June 10-13 in Eugene, Ore.
