PHILADELPHIA - A total of 134 La Salle student-athletes were named to the Spring 2015 Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, released by the league office on Tuesday. The Commissioner's Honor Roll recognizes all student-athletes in Atlantic 10-sponsored sports who have attained a 3.5 or better GPA for the semester.

La Salle was second among all 14 A-10 institutions with 134  honorees. Massachusetts led all league schools with 154 honor roll members.

La Salle student-athletes put together yet another unprecedented year in the classroom. Five teams, including men's basketball, were recognized by the NCAA for ranking in the top 10% nationally in their sport in the Academic Progress Rate.

Three Explorer student-athletes earned either Academic or Scholar All-America honors (Kelsey Haycook, Kerri Aiken, Ryan Welling); 11 were named Academic All-Region; seven student-athletes earned Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area; and 17 student-athletes earned Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference awards. On a team level, seven squads earned academic recognition from their respective national coaches organizations.

In addition, graduation rates and student-athlete grade point averages are higher than the general student body.

The 1,559 is the highest number of student-athletes that have qualified for the award in a 14-member Atlantic 10 since 2007, surpassing the 1,470 set during the 2014 fall semester. In addition, the 14 member institutions had an average 111 student-athletes qualify for the Commissioner's Honor Roll, shattering last semester's record average of 105 honorees per institution. Both marks are the best single semester numbers of Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade's tenure.

Including the fall semester numbers, there were a total of 3,029 honorees during 2014-15, the most in league history for a 14-member Atlantic 10, and the second most all-time.
