LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - La Salle scored two goals in the second half to fight back from a 3-0 deficit but ran out of time in a 3-2 loss at Rider on Sunday afternoon at Ben Cohen Field. Freshman
Megan Kida scored her first collegiate goal and junior
Devin Muracco had her second of the season for the Explorers. Junior goalkeeper
Rachel Hartman had 11 saves for the Blue and Gold, while Kida added a defensive save for La Salle.
Rider (5-1) scored twice in the first half and again eight minutes into the second half to take a three-goal lead on the visitors. But La Salle had success on its corners, first in the 52nd minute, when senior
Jenica Miller inserted the ball to classmate
Juliana Carfagno, who stopped it for Kida. The rookie then found the back of the cage for the first time in her career.
With under a minute remaining, Muracco scored off assists from junior
Gina Smith and sophomore
Eileen Dzwill after a penalty corner to make it 3-2 but the final horn sounded before the Explorers could tie the score.
Rider held a 9-8 advantage in corners and a 23-7 lead in shots.Â
The Explorers (2-3) begin Atlantic 10 play on Friday at Davidson.Â
