Men’s Soccer Visits No. 17 Temple, LIU Brooklyn This Week

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's soccer team wraps up a four-game road trip with games at No. 17 Temple and LIU Brooklyn this week.
 
Scouting the Explorers
-Winners of three straight, La Salle is coming off a 1-0 win over No. 25/21 UMBC on Saturday night.
 
-Goalkeeper Mike Kirk, who picked up his league-best third shutout in the win over UMBC, was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week in addition to being named A-10 Co-Player of the Week and Soccer 6 Defender of the Week.
 
-Kirk also had six saves in a 2-1 win over Rider on Tuesday to post a 0.50 goals-against average and a 0.889 save percentagefor the week. Rider's lone goal came on a penalty kick in the 43rd minute.
 
-Sophomore Joe Hansen scored the game-winner against UMBC in the 69th minute, blocking a UMBC clear attempt and striking the ball on the bounce into the back of the net. The goal was Hansen's second this season.
 
-Fellow sophomore Mike Liska is tied for second in the Atlantic 10 lead with three assists on the season.
 
-The Explorers are 2-3 on the road this season.

Scouting the Owls

-The Owls stand at 6-0-1 for the season, the program's best start since 1985. As a team, the Owls are up six spots in the weekly NSCAA National Poll from 23 to 17.
 
-Jorge Gomez Sanchez was named Offensive Player of the Week by the American Athletic Conference for the second consecutive week following a hat trick against Penn. His 10 goals this season are tied for the most in a season at Temple since 2003.
 
-Gomez Sanchez leads the nation in game-winning goals with five. He sits second in the nation in goals per game, points per game, total goals, total points, and shots per game, while tied for third in shots on goal per game.
 
-Junior Carlos Moros Gracia was named AAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after scoring his first career goal against Villanova last Wednesday.
 
- Goalkeeper Alex Cagle sits ninth in the nation in save percentage (0.875) through seven matches. Cagle was named to the weekly conference honor roll after making seven saves in the win over Villanova.

Scouting the Blackbirds

-LIU Brooklyn is coming off a 3-1 loss to Saint Peter's on Sunday in Jersey City, and is winless (0-4-1) in their last five games.
