Box Score AMBLER, Pa. – Despite a late goal from junior
Conor Nichols, the La Salle men's soccer team fell to the No. 17 Temple Owls 4-1 on Wednesday afternoon at the Ambler Sports Complex.
Nichols cut the Temple lead to 3-1 in the 85th minute with his first career goal, corralling the ball from a scramble in the box and sending it into the net. TU's Josh Tagland quickly answered with a goal in the 89th minute to push the Temple lead back to three goals.
The Owls took the lead midway through the opening half, scoring in the 19th minute when Justin Stoddart found Belal Mohamed for a one-on-one opportunity with La Salle keeper
Mike Kirk. The goal was Mohamed's first on the season.
Temple took a 2-0 lead into the break after Stoddart found the net in the 35th minute, getting a feed downfield from Kevin Klett for a clear look at the net.
The Owls stretched the lead to 3-0 in the 55th minute when Stefan Mueller sent a cross to Dan White, who headed it in for his first goal of the season.
Although the Owls outshot the Explorers 14-6 on the afternoon, La Salle didn't allow a Temple corner kick in the game while taking nine.
The Explorers conclude their four-game road trip on Saturday afternoon at LIU Field against the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds.
