WASHINGTON, D.C. - The La Salle field hockey team outshot Georgetown, 9-4, but an early second half goal proved to be enough in a 1-0 Hoya victory on Friday afternoon at Multi-Sport Field.
GU's Molly Thompson scored off a corner four minutes after halftime and it was the only goal the hosts needed for their first win of the season.
La Salle's
Rachel Hartman made one save for the Explorers (1-2), while the Hoyas' Rachel Skonecki had seven stops.
The Blue and Gold had a 17-9 advantage in penalty corners, including 14-2 in the second half, but were unable to push across a goal.
Abbey Lawrence had three shots to pace the offense.
La Salle will return home on Sunday for its home opener at 1 PM versus Ball State.
