WASHINGTON, D.C. – The La Salle women's basketball team fell 83-59 to the George Washington Colonials in Atlantic 10 action on Wednesday night at the Smith Center.
La Salle featured a balanced attack with four scorers in double figures but weren't able to slow the George Washington attack. Five Colonials tallied double-digit totals in the scoring column, paced by 14 points from Hannah Schaible.
Amy Griffin led the Explorers with 16 points, including 14 in the 4th quarter, and a team-high seven rebounds. La Salle outscored the Colonials 25-16 in the final quarter but couldn't overcome the early deficit.
Micahya Owens finished with 14 points and six boards while
Jasmine Alston filled the stat sheets 12 points, five rebounds and four assists. Freshman
Adreana Miller finished with 11 points, going 2-for-5 from three-point range and a perfect 3-for-3 from the foul line.
Reigning A-10 Player of the Year Jonquel Jones had a 13-point, 16-rebound double-double for the home team while Caira Washington, Lauren Chase and DaLacy Anderson all finished with 10 points.
The Explorers return home for two straight games beginning with a Saturday matchup against Rhode Island in Tom Gola Arena. Tipoff against the Rams is set for 1 p.m.
