BRONX, N.Y.- The La Salle men's swimming and diving team had a commanding performance in a tri-meet against Fordham and Iona on Friday evening. The Explorers won 11 of the 15 events in which they swam.

The 200 freestyle event saw La Salle finish in the top four positions out of the 12 swimmers in the event. Sophomore
Jakub Bartosiewicz (1:44.58), junior
Jerry Gravel (144.94), freshman
Jeffrey Pfannenstein (1:46.12), and senior
Justin Hughes (1:46.35) paced the Explorers in the event.

Sophomore
Fabian Bergman swept both backstroke events for La Salle. First in the 100 yard he swam a time of 50.88 for a 2.25 second win. He returned in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:53.30 to win by 1.97 seconds over the field.

Senior
Johan Roth and sophomore
Dimitrije Mladenovic finished one, two in the 200 breaststroke. Roth won the event in 2:08.68 while Mladenovic was close behind in 2:10.33.

Roth also topped the 100 yard breaststroke event with a 58.78 time. Senior
Jonathan Cabral placed second in 1:00.59.

The Explorers swept both diving events with senior
CJ Gimpel taking the one meter event with 279.37, 64.22 points ahead of second place. Sophomore
Dylan Yurasits took the three meter event with a 291.45 point total.

Bartosiewicz also topped the podium in the 100 butterfly event thanks to a 50.87 second time, 19 seconds ahead of second place.

Junior
Mattias Glenesk topped the 11 man field in the 500 freestyle event with a 4:40.24 time, 6.53 seconds ahead of the nearest swimmer.

The 50 yard freestyle saw three La Salle swimmers finish in the top four. Cabral took home first place in 22.29 seconds. Junior
Strahinja Stankovic was second in 22.35 while senior
Cameron Edling placed fourth in 22.63.

La Salle swept first and second place in both the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay as well during the meet.

La Salle closes out the regular season when it travels to Penn on Saturday with the meet getting underway at noon.
