PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Duquesne broke the game open in the second half to hand La Salle an 87-60 loss on Tuesday night at the Palumbo Center. Junior Jordan Price had 21 points and eight rebounds to pace the Explorers.
 
"I thought we gave a good effort up until the very end," head coach Dr. John Giannini said. "We're struggling and they deserve credit."
 
Sophomore Johnnie Shuler had 13 points and junior Cleon Roberts added 11, while sophomore Tony Washington had 12 rebounds, his third straight double-figure rebounding game.
 
For the Dukes, Derrick Colter had a game-high 27 points and Micah Mason scored 14 points and dished 10 assists. Eric James had 11 points and 15 boards.
 
La Salle held the lead at 15-12 on a Shuler three-pointer with 10:55 to play until halftime. The Dukes (14-7, 4-4 A-10) regained the lead but the score was close until the hosts slowly built a 32-26 halftime advantage.
 
The Explorers drew within three points early in the second half before a 10-2 run by Duquesne put the Red and Blue up by 11. DU put the petal down late to extend the lead to 29 points.
 
The Blue and Gold (5-13, 1-6 A-10) visit Dayton on Saturday at 2 PM. The game will be broadcast nationally on NBC Sports Network.
