PHILADELPHIA- The La Salle field hockey team hosted Richmond on Sunday to continue conference play. The Spiders topped the Explorers in a 2-1 contest.

The Spiders opened up scoring in the first half at 7:50 into play with a goal from Kelly Quinn off a penalty corner. Richmond set the pace for the game and held the Explorers scoreless for the rest of the half. Goalkeeper Rachel Hartman posted three saves in the first half to keep the Rams out of the cage.

In the second half, Olivia Hubert put in a goal at 52:49 to grab a second goal for the Spiders. La Salle answered at 58:50 in the second half with a goal from Kendall Kreider. Sophie Lozowski sent the ball to Kreider on a corner play, who then put in into the Richmond cage.

Richmond held off La Salle for the rest of the game to take the contest 2-1. Rachel Hartman recorded four saves overall and averaged a .667 save percentage.

La Salle will return to competition on Friday Oct. 7, when they travel to SJU to play the Hawks at 3:30 PM.
