DAVIDSON, N.C. - The La Salle Men's Soccer season has come to an end after a 3-1 loss to Rhode Island on Thursday night in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament.

Matt Robinson, the teams' leader in points this season with 16, scored the Explorers' only goal following a free kick late in the second half. The goal was following a free kick and was assisted by Jake Saba.

Johnny Ciarlante and Pat McCarthy also put shots on goal for La Salle. In net, Mike Kirk had three saves. 

Rhode Island struck first with a goal in the 38th minute off of a counter attack, and then a deflating score just 30 seconds later to take a 2-0 lead. Robinson's goal gave the Blue and Gold hope, making the score 2-1, until the Rams notched a dagger to again pull ahead by two scores.

Head Coach Rob Irvine's team should hold its head high as the squad proved the doubters wrong, finishing well ahead of its preseason prediction to finish the regular season with the third-best record in the conference. The team will look to carry its success into next season and be one of the top teams in the conference.
