LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The La Salle women's basketball team couldn't overcome an early deficit in a 74-61 loss to the Rider Broncs on Thursday night at Alumni Gymnasium.
After trailing by as many as 15 points in the 3rd quarter, the Explorers cut the deficit to 60-54 midway through the 4th quarter thanks to a 6-0 run. The Broncs quickly pushed the lead back to 10 with four straight points and held at least an eight-point lead for the duration.
Amy Griffin was pivotal in La Salle's comeback attempt, going for 19 of her 25 points in the second half. The junior was a perfect 7-for-7 from the foul line on the night.
Adreana Miller was the other Explorer in double figures, finishing with 13 points and five boards.
Jasmine Alston pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds and stuffed the stat sheet with nine points and six assists.
Robin Perkins helped the Broncs take an early lead, going for eight points in the first five minutes on the way to a team-high 15 points. Julia Duggan went for a 12-point, 15-rebound double-double while Kamila Hoskova also pitched in 12 points.
La Salle returns home on Sunday to host the American Eagles in Tom Gola Arena. Tipoff is at 1 p.m.
