Explorers Roll Past Delaware State, 78-38

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's basketball team cruised to a 78-38 win over Delaware State on Wednesday afternoon at Tom Gola Arena.

Amy Griffin led the charge for the Explorers with 22 points, six assists and five rebounds. Adreana Miller added 17 points while Shalina Miller poured in a season-high 14 points and four blocks.

The 40-point win surpassed a 78-41 defeat of Massachusetts (Jan. 11, 2014) as the largest margin of victory under head coach Jeff Williams.

The Explorers scored the game's first eight points and never trailed in the contest, outscoring DSU 17-4 in the 2nd quarter to take a 21-point lead into halftime. La Salle led by at least 17 points for the duration.

All nine Explorers who dressed for the game found the scoring column. Anemone Scheel and Lisa Mintzer both chipped in eight points off the bench, which was a season-high for Mintzer.

"I think that's one of our strengths this year," added Williams. "We can go to the bench and hold each other accountable."

The La Salle defense smothered the Hornets, limiting Delaware State to single-digit scoring totals in the 2nd and 4th quarters. The Explorers allowed just four points in the 2nd quarter and seven points in the 4th.

Jasmine Alston had a game-high eight assists and nine rebounds to go along with two points and three steals.

La Salle hosts Missouri-Kansas City on December 28 for their final contest of 2016. Tipoff is set for 3 PM from Tom Gola Arena.
