GENEVA, Ohio – Sophomore
Emma Smith earned the silver in the 1650 yard free to highlight the final day of the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships for the La Salle women's swimming and diving team.
Smith swam a 16:48.02 in the final, just 8.37 seconds off the winner of the event. Senior
Hayley Miles touched in 24
th with a time of 17:57.17 while freshmen
Shannon Battis (18:09.22) and
Siobhan McDonough (18:24.22) finished in 27
th and 28
th place respectively.
Junior Eva Marie Oesterhus finished in 10
th place after swimming the second fastest time in the consolation finals of the 200 butterfly. Oesterhus swam a 2:04.14, just .1 seconds off the consolation winner.
Senior
Kelly Quinn placed sixth in the three meter diving Championship Finals with a score of 237.10. Sophomore
Sydney Szopo (218.70) and freshman Dominique DiRienzio (203.70) placed in 10
th and 14
th respectively.
Freshman
Olivia DiStefano placed 12
th in the 100 freestyle finals with a time of 51.73. DiStefano was just .31 seconds off the top time in the consolation finals.
Senior
Kelsey Jenkinson finished in 16
th place in the 200 breaststroke finals after swimming a 2:23.17 in the consolation finals.
The 400 freestyle relay team of junior Kate Hay, Oesterhus, DiStefano, and Smith swam a 3:26.51 for a ninth place finish in the final event of the championship.
La Salle finished in eighth place with 198 points throughout the championship.
