SPARTANBURG, S.C. - La Salle dropped both games of its season-opening doubleheader on Friday afternoon at Cyrill Stadium, falling to Ohio and host USC Upstate by identical 8-0 scores.

Emma Schweigert collected the only hits for La Salle in the loss to Ohio. Schweigert's hit was a double for her first collegiate hit.
The Bobcats (4-1) got on the board with three runs in the first and added two in the second and one in the third. Freshman Marlo Roadcap (0-1) suffered the loss in her first college outing. Junior Val Buehler came in relief and threw two innings of no-hit ball and struck out three.USC Upstate 8, La Salle 0 (5 innings) La Salle loaded the bases in the first inning but was unable to push any runs across the plate and ended up falling to USC Upstate, 8-0, in five innings.

McKenzie Peace (0-1) suffered the defeat and struck out four batters in four innings.
USC Upstate improved to 8-1 this season.
