Scouting the Explorers-Freshmen
Kevin McGowan and
Jared Melone are leading the Explorers offensively, hitting .321 and .302, respectively. Melone leads the club in extra base hits (4), RBI (7) and stolen bases (4).
-A couple of young arms have also been steady for the Explorers as
CJ Pruitt and
Mike Anthony have combined to make 10 appearances for La Salle. Pruitt leads the team in ERA with a 2.35 through 7.2 innings while Anthony has a 2.84 in 6.1 innings.

Joey Ravert, Friday's scheduled starter for the Blue and Gold, is coming off his best start of the season against Presbyterian. The righty limited the Blue Hose to two runs on six hits and a walk while fanning four.
-La Salle is 2-2 all-time against East Tennessee State, but the two teams haven't met since 2002.
Scouting the Buccaneers -East Tennessee State split a pair of midweek games this week, defeating North Carolina A&T 17-5 on the road Tuesday before falling 11-2 at home to Tennessee on Wednesday. The Bucs took two of three from Purdue at home over the weekend.
-ETSU's Hagen Owenby was named to the watch list for the 2016 Johnny Bench Award, given annually to the top Division I collegiate catcher. The sophomore is hitting .412 with 7 homers and 16 RBI through 13 games this season.
-Owenby is one of three starters hitting over .400 for the Buccaneers entering this weekend, paced by Trey York's .434 average (23-for-53). Aaron Maher is also off to a hot start, hitting .405 (17-for-42) through 12 games.
-The Bucs are hitting .310 as a team, and scoring 6.8 runs per game.
