RICHMOND – The La Salle women's basketball team fell 81-65 to Massachusetts in the Atlantic 10 Tournament on Wednesday night despite a career-high 27 points from
Micahya Owens.
Owens led all scorers but La Salle's second-half rally wasn't enough to overcome a strong 4th quarter for the Minutewomen. La Salle trailed by as many as 18 in the 3rd quarter before trimming the deficit to six with a 10-1 run late in the 3rd quarter.
La Salle stayed within striking distance early in the 4th quarter until a 13-4 UMass run early in the final quarter put the game out of reach. Four players scored in double figures for Massachusetts, paced by 24 points from Cierra Dillard.
Bria Stallworth added 17 points while Rashida Timbilla registered a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Alyx Stiff chipped in 11 points off the bench.
