HIGH POINT, N.C. – The La Salle baseball team fell 4-0 to the High Point Panthers on Wednesday evening at Williard Stadium.
Joey Ravert and
Ethan Springston delivered back-to-back singles to start the 2nd inning before HPU starter Michael Hennessey (W, 2-0) got three quick outs to stifle the scoring opportunity. The righty went 7.0 innings while scattering five hits and issuing just one walk.
The Explorers had two runners on again in the 3rd after singles from
Mike Manoogian and
Kevin McGowan but couldn't get the timely hit to break the scoreless tie.
High Point took a 1-0 lead against
Mike Anthony (L, 0-1) in the bottom of the 3rd on a JJ Woodard RBI double. The Panthers got another run in the 4th against Anthony, who went 3.2 innings in his first career start.
The Panthers scored twice more in the 5th against righty
Ryan Wanner before High Point's bullpen pitched two scoreless frames to close the game.
The Explorers finish up the road trip this weekend with a three-game series at East Tennessee State beginning on Friday.
