PHILADELPHIA- The La Salle women's lacrosse team dropped a 15-9 decision to Duquesne on Saturday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium.

Senior
Katelyn Fay recorded a hat trick while fellow seniors
Allie Burnett and
Katie Fonte each netted one on senior day for the eight member senior class.

With the loss La Salle falls one game short of making the A-10 Championship as they finished in a tie at 3-6 on the year in the A-10 with Richmond; however, the Spiders hold the head-to-head win over the Explorers to take the tie breaker.

The Explorers fell behind early, but went on a run in the second half to cut into the Dukes lead.

Duquesne (9-7, 7-2 A-10) led 10-2 at the break, with both first half goals for La Salle coming from sophomore
Brittany Edwards off an assist from junior
Allee Ilgenfritz and Fay.

La Salle (5-11, 3-6 A-10) started off the second half on a 4-0 run to cut the deficit to just 10-6 with 13:35 remaining in the contest. Fonte started off the scoring off an assist from Fay before Fay scored three straight with one coming unassisted, another off a free position shot and the final off an assist from Edwards.

The Dukes answered with a pair of goal but La Salle came right back with two of their own in a 24 second span. Sophomore
Nicole Black and junior
Anna Gordon scored with Gordon's goal of an assist from classmate
Courtney Woolford. This made it 12-8 Dukes with 4:04 remaining.

Duquesne was able to control much of the final four minutes scoring three goals while La Salle scored the final goal of the game a Burnett tally off an assist from Ilgenfritz to make the final score 15-9.

Freshman
Sarah Gallagher made 11 saves in the net for the Explorers. Senior
Kerry Newby forced five turnovers and scooped up a team-high three ground balls in the loss.
