Men's Water Polo | September 2, 2016
PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's water polo team is set to begin its inaugural season this weekend when it will be competing alongside 25 other teams in the Navy Open at Annapolis, Md. The Explorers will face four schools in a span of two days.
Stiff competition includes Navy and Fordham, which both ranked among the top five in the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference preseason poll, as well as McKendree and Caltech.
Head Coach Paul Macht is excited to see his team in action.
"We look forward to competing and gaining an understanding of where we are starting relative to other varsity programs in our region and the country," Macht said. "We are excited but realize that our players are almost all freshman who have never played together prior to our recent preseason practices."
La Salle's 16-man roster includes 12 freshmen and players from eight different states.
The first game of the inaugural season begins on Saturday at 10:40 AM when the Explorers go up against the McKendree Bearcats who, coincidentally, are also in their inaugural season.
