PHILADELPHIA- The La Salle field hockey team bested Atlantic 10 rival VCU on Friday afternoon in a 3-1 contest at Hank DeVincent Field. The Explorers hold a 5-5 season and are 3-1 in conference play.
Logan Oh posted her second goal of the season at 28:10 into the game to give the Explorers the lead. A pass from
April Stein to Oh, who sent the ball into the cage set the pace for La Salle. The rest of the half went scoreless, as La Salle held down VCU, allowing just four shots on goal.
A second goal at 41:28 from
Megan Kida, her first of the season, secured La Salle's lead in the second half. Barely a minute later, at 42:03, Kida sent a pass to
Devin Muracco, who scored La Salle's third goal of the game and her third on the season.
The Explorers led the charge and allowed just one goal in the second half at 56:37 into play, when the Rams finally got onto the board with a goal from McKenzie Boweler. La Salle held the Rams down for the rest of the game, to secure their third Atlantic 10 victory.
Goalkeeper
Rachel Hartman posted four saves and averaged a .820 save percentage in the Explorer efforts.
La Salle will return to the field on Sunday, when the team hosts the Richmond Spiders at Hank DeVincent Field at 12:00 PM.
