Women's Swimming and Diving | January 27, 2017
PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle Women's Swimming team picked up a convincing 127-55 win over Mount St. Mary's on Friday evening at Kirk Pool.
"The meet tonight was a key stepping stone for the teams in preparation for peak performance at the Atlantic 10 Championships," said Head Coach
Jamie Platt after the win. "We are looking forward to the opportunity to race again tomorrow afternoon."
The 200 medley relay team started the evening off in a big way as the
Olivia DiStefano, Maddy Koelsch, Eva Oesterhus, and Katlyn Hay combined to touch the wall in 1:51.11 for first place. Oesterhus and Koelsch delivered yet again in the 500 free as the senior and junior duo placed one-two. Oesterhus' top time was marked at 1:58.56. Oesterhus later ran away with the 200 fly, clocking in at 2:10 flat.
Later in the evening, DiStefano topped the 50 free. The standout sophomore's final time was 24.58 seconds.
In the 200 IM, junior
Hannah Elliott took first in 2:12.80. Just behind her, freshman
Carrie Horan clocked in at 2:14.69 for second place. Elliott also proved to be the top swimmer in the 200 backstroke (2:13.07).
Hay won the 100 free in a somewhat tight finish. Her final time of 55.34 seconds was three tenths of a second ahead of senior teammate
Tanawan Sukonthapanich.
Freshman
Emily Wolbert seperated herself from the pack in the 500 free, touching the wall in 5:25.98 to take first place. Sophomore
Siobhan McDonough placed second in the event.
The Women's team hits Kirk Pool for its last home meet when they host Rowan on Saturday at 1:00 PM. Meanwhile, the diving team will be competing at the Penn State Diving Invite all day.
