PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle Women's Swimming team wrapped up their regular season home schedule in a big way as the Explorers defeated Rowan 125-75 at Kirk Pool on Saturday afternoon. La Salle will look towards the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championships with their heads held high after two commanding performances this weekend.
"This was a very important weekend for us," said Head Coach
Jamie Platt. "With only one competition left before A-10 championships, we needed to make the most out of our back-to-back meets. I am excited with how the team responded and I look forward to continuing on our path to A-10's."
The 200 medley relay team of
Olivia DiStefano,
Collin Kessinger, Eva Oesterhus, and Katlyn Hay began the meet with a win, finishing in 1:51.44.
Hannah Elliott took the 200 freestyle in 1:57.98. Hay and
Emily Wolbert rounded out the top three for La Salle. Elliott also won the 500 free, clocking in at 5:16.69.
In the 200 IM, Oesterhus clocked in at 2:11.45 for first place. Behind her, teammates Kessinger and Maddy Koelsch took second and third. Later in the day, Oesterhus finished first in the 100 fly (1:00.69).
DiStefano later placed first in the 50 free, touching the wall in 24.88 seconds.
Tanawan Sukonthapanich and
Natalie Simunek took second and third placed in the event. DiStefano also won the 100 back with a time of 57.87 seconds.
In the 100 free,
Rory Kearns gave the Blue and Gold another first place when she finished in 55.41 seconds.
The Women's team will be in action just once more before the Atlantic 10 Championships when it goes to the Villanova Sprint Fest on Saturday, February 4th at noon.
