Explorers Visit St. Bonaventure Thursday, Host Fordham Sunday

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team rides a six-game winning streak this week as they visit St. Bonaventure on Thursday before hosting Fordham at McCarthy Stadium Sunday afternoon.  
 
 Scouting the Explorers
-La Salle is atop the A-10 standings after a 6-0 start to league play. The Explorers are outscoring A-10 opponents 24-4 through six games.
 
-Madison Bower earned A-10 Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after scoring four goals and adding a pair of assists in two wins last week. Bower leads the team with eight goals, which is second in the A-10 and tied for 38th in the country.
 
-La Salle has scored 35 goals on the season, which leads the league and is tied for 24th in the NCAA. Not far behind Bower in the scoring column are Kristin Haugstad and Maci Bower, who have seven goals each, and Danielle Marx (five goals). All four are in the top 10 in the league in scoring.
 
-La Salle is second in the A-10 with nine shutouts, and sports a 0.65 goals-against average.
 
-The Explorers lead the A-10 with 39 assists, which is 12th in the NCAA this season.

Scouting the Bonnies

-SBU went unbeaten last week, earning a scoreless draw at Fordham on Thursday before winning their first game of the year in a 2-0 decision over Rhode Island.
 
-Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Malcolm earned A-10 Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after recording back-to-back shutouts against Fordham and Rhody. For the season, Malcolm leads the Atlantic 10 and is third in the nation with 100 saves through 15 games.
 
-Bella May and Danielle Vis each tallied their first goals of the season in the win over URI, while junior Marley Jarvis leads the team with two goals.
 
-The Bonnies are last in the A-10 with four goals scored but have allowed 28 goals on the season, which is 12th most in the league.
 
-The SBU women's soccer team earned the United Soccer Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 2016-17 year, it was announced last week.

Scouting the Rams

-Fordham is coming off a pair of double overtime games last week, settling for a scoreless draw with St. Bonaventure Thursday and then falling to Richmond 1-0 on Sunday after the Spiders scored in the 105th minute.
 
-The Rams are looking for their first win since they started league play with back-to-back wins over Rhode Island (9/21) and Massachusetts (9/24).  
 
-Fordham picked up their fifth shutout of the season against the Bonnies, which is seventh in the A-10. The Rams sport a goals-against average of 0.86, which ranks fourth in the conference.  
 
-Fordham was one of 195 schools to have both of its soccer programs receive the United Soccer Coaches Association Team Academic Award for 2016-17.
