Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Explorers Upended by Hawks

PHILADELPHIA- In a city clash for the La Salle field hockey team, the Explorers were turned away by Saint Joseph's in a 4-0 score. The two teams battled it out in a conference meeting on Friday, Oct. 13 under gloomy skies for the Hawks to walk away with the win.

Saint Joseph's got off to a hot start, scoring off a corner play before La Salle was able to attempt a shot. Despite a shot from Lauren Lechleitner and Kendall Kreider 10 minutes into the first half, La Salle could not answer the Hawks.

The Hawks charged forward, netting three more goals in the final 10 minutes of the first half to secure the game. La Salle fought defensively in the second half, holding down SJU to just six shots.

Goalkeeper Emelynn Sneary  tallied four saves in the second half and allowed no goals to keep the Hawks at a 4-0 standstill. In the first half, Emma Provost made six saves for the Blue and Gold.

La Salle will be back in action with a conference matchup with VCU on Friday, Oct. 20. The team will play the Rams in Richmond, Va. at 3:00 PM.
