PHILADELPHIA- After a whirlwind 70 minutes of regulation that left the Explorers and Rider knotted at 2-2,
Mackenzie Karcher accepted a pass through traffic from
Logan Oh to net the game winner five minutes into overtime.

With the goal, the La Salle field hockey team captured the win in a 3-2 contest over the Broncs on Thursday, Oct.  5.

Summer Pierson first put La Salle up on the board at 16:53 into the first half when she took a penalty corner play from
Kendall Kreider and
Eileen Dzwill. Pierson touched the ball into the Broncs goal for her first scoring play of the season.

After Rider answered almost exactly a minute later to equalize the score, the two teams tangled until Karcher tipped a goal in with under three minutes remaining in the first half of play.
Amanda Chapin sent a pass over to Karcher for the junior to net her sixth goal of the season.

With a 2-1 advantage to open the second half, La Salle held the Broncs down until the 51 minute mark, when Tess Coorens slipped a rebound shot past goalkeeper
Emma Provost.

The teams remained at a standstill for the final minutes of the game to force overtime. With Karcher's second goal of the game at 75:31, the Explorers clinched the win improve to 7-4 on the season.

In goal,
Emma Provost made six saves and faced 17 shots in total against the Broncs.

La Salle will return to the turf on Sunday, when the team welcomes Saint Francis for a conference tilt at 2:00 PM at Hank DeVincent. Sunday's game will mark senior day, opening with a brief ceremony to honor the class of 2018.
