Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team (10-3-1, 5-0 A-10) cruised to a 6-0 win over the Davidson Wildcats (2-12, 0-5) on Thursday evening at McCarthy Stadium.
The Explorers tallied nine assists on the night, which ties the program record for assists in a single game (Saint Peter's, 9/8/2000). The six-goal output was a season-high for the Explorers, and six different players recorded points.
Kristin Haugstad led the charge with two goals and three assists while
Madison Bower tallied two goals and an assist.
Danielle Marx, who had a goal and two assists, got the scoring started with her fifth goal of the year in the 9
th minute on an assist from
Madison Bower. Haugstad scored her first goal just a few minutes later, using a helper from
Jess Shanahan to find the back of the net in the 15
th minute.
La Salle took the 2-0 lead into halftime before overwhelming the Wildcats with four goals after the break. Using assists from Marx and Haugstad,
Maci Bower made it a 3-0 game with her sixth goal of the year in the 57
th minute.
La Salle scored again in the 60
th minute on a corner kick by Haugstad that
Chloe Lewis headed towards the goal and
Madison Bower deposited for the score. Haugstad scored her second goal at the 65:20 mark when Marx sent a free kick towards the middle of the field that Haugstad launched top shelf.
The Explorers added one final goal in the 70
th minute, with
Madison Bower using assists from Haugstad and Lewis to make it a six-goal lead. La Salle took 22 shots on the game, landing 11 on goal.
Davidson didn't pose much of a threat, playing the majority of the game down a player after Lauren Grace Himes got a red card in the 19
th minute. La Salle allowed just three shots, none on goal, and just one corner kick.
The Explorers will look for their sixth straight win on Sunday as they visit the Massachusetts Minutewomen (6-5-2, 3-1-1 A-10) at Rudd Field. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
