CLAREMONT, Calif. - The La Salle men's water polo team fell twice on Friday, the first day of the Gary Troyer Tournament. The Explorers play some of the best teams in the country over the course of the two days in California.
In the early game, La Verne came from behind to beat the Explorers, 15-13.
Joey DeFusco lead the way on offense with a team-high six goals and two assists.
Jeff Brady added three goals and three kick outs drawn.
Derek DeFusco chipped in two goals.
Cole Strohson, the team's leader in steals this season, added four more to his total.
The Explorers also went down to Redlands later in the day, 21-8. Redlands had been receiving votes heading into the game. Brady and
Daniel Domotor had two goals apiece to lead La Salle's offense.
Ash Lyne recorded a team-high three steals.
La Salle also fell to Mount San Antonio on Thursday in a non-tournament regulation game, 12-7.
Huw Helman had two goals and two kickouts drawn while
Derek DeFusco had three steals in the game.
The Explorers continue the tournament on Saturday with games against Cal Lutheran and #15 Cal Baptist.
