DAVIDSON, North Carolina - The Explorers (8-9-1, 3-5 A-10) ended their season on a high note with a 2-0 shutout of Atlantic 10 opponent Davidson (7-8-2, 3-4-1 A-10) on Wednesday night in North Carolina. A pair of seniors,
Ryan Nork and
Sixtus Akinlosotu, scored goals in the match.
Mark Tobin and senior
Sebastian Stelmach recorded the combined shutout.
Both goals came in the second half of the game after a scoreless first half. Following the break, La Salle came out firing and out-shot Davidson 7-5. Nork scored just a few minutes into the frame, beating the Wildcat keeper on the top shelf after being fed by
Johnny Ciarlante in front. It was Nork's first goal of the season.
Akinlosotu scored in the game's 81st minute to put it away. The veteran midfielder punched it in from just outside the box on an unassisted goal.
Tobin and Stelmach were brilliant in net, as Tobin faced a total of six shots and stopped all of them. The two goalies also endured eight corner kicks and left unscathed.
