PHILADELPHIA - La Salle swimmers Fabian Bergman and Olivia DiStefano were named Atlantic 10 Performers of the Week for their efforts in the Explorers' tri-meet with Delaware and Rider last weekend.
Bergman, who has been named to the award after all three of La Salle's meets this season, won the 100 back with a finale time of 50 seconds flat, over two seconds ahead of second place. Even more impressively, Bergman won the 200 back by over five seconds with a time of 1:50.20. The senior was also part of the 200 medley relay team to touch the wall first. He picked up his third individual win and fourth total win of the day in the 200 IM with a final time of 1:53.91.
DiStefano highlighted the day for the women's team with three first place finishes. She took first in the 100 back, touching the wall in 58.06 seconds, and also in the 50 free, clocking in at 24.66 seconds. She was also part of the 400 free relay team that placed first in 3:43.69. Her day wasn't done as the 200 medley relay team garnered a second place finish as foursome combined to clock in a final time of 1:49.13.
Both teams hit the pool this weekend for the Bucknell Invitational beginning on Friday and continuing throughout the weekend.
