PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle University men's basketball team hosts Temple for a Big 5 matchup on Sunday, Nov. 26 at Tom Gola Arena at TruMark Financial Center. NEWS & NOTES
•The Explorers look to snap a three-game skid that was extended on Wednesday with a 57-46 loss to No. 11 Miami.
•Senior
B.J. Johnson registered his fourth double-double this season with 16 points and a career-high 16 rebounds against the Hurricanes.
•Johnson is tied for fourth in the country in the category and stands in the Top 20 in rebounding at 10.7 per contest.
•Redshirt junior
Pookie Powell scored a team-high 17 points but missed on all four of his three-point attempts in a 5-for-15 outing from the field.
•Overall, La Salle missed all 15 of its three-point attempts which marked the first time the Explorers had gone without making a trifecta since March 6, 1989 (843 games).
•The last three opponents La Salle has faced have a combined 13-3 record through the early portion of the season, with both Northwestern and Miami holding national rankings at the time the Explorers played them.
•On the year, La Salle is shooting at an impressive .811 clip from the free-throw line to rank 10th in the country.
•The Explorers are looking to move to 2-0 in Big 5 play, with the first win of the year coming on Nov. 13 against Penn (75-71 in double overtime).
SCOUTING TEMPLE
•The Owls have played half as many games as La Salle has this season, winning all three contests at the Charleston Classic to earn the tournament title.
•Temple defeated Old Dominion, Auburn and Clemson over a four-day stretch, after being the final NCAA Division I team to officially start its season.
•Senior Obi Enechionyia was named Tournament MVP in Charleston after averaging 15.3 points and 7.3 rebounds over three games.
•Sophomore Quinton Rose was also named to the All-Tournament Team and picked up his first career double-double (10 pts., 11 rebs.) in the win over Clemson.
•A third player, Shizz Alston Jr., paces Temple in scoring at 18.3 points per contest and is shooting 56.3 percent from three-point range.
•Temple stands just ahead of La Salle in the national standings for free throw percentage, connecting at a 81.7 percent rate from the charity stripe.
