Amy Griffin posted her first career triple-double to help the La Salle women's basketball team (5-6) earn a commanding 71-48 win at Delaware State (1-8) on Sunday evening at Memorial Hall.
The senior tied her career-high with 11 rebounds, dished out a career-high 10 assists and scored 16 points for La Salle's first triple-double since
Jasmine Alston went for 15 points, 18 rebounds and 12 assists against Miami (Ohio) last November.
After a tightly contested opening quarter, the Explorers outscored the Hornets 25-8 in the 2
nd quarter to a take a 37-22 lead into the half.
Adreana Miller had 11 of her 17 points in the first half.
DSU made a run in the 3
rd quarter to cut La Salle's lead to single digits, but the Explorers closed the quarter on a 12-3 run to take a 14-point lead into the 4
th.
Shalina Miller narrowly missed a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds, and tied her career-high with four blocks.
Deja King also scored in double figures for La Salle, dropping a season-high 11 points to go with four rebounds and two steals in 28 minutes off the bench.
Sofilia Ngwafang scored all eight of her points in the 4
th quarter, and pulled down four rebounds in 10 minutes off the bench. The Explorers held a 52-35 advantage on the glass for the night.
The Explorers host Big 5 rival Villanova on Wednesday afternoon. Tipoff from Tom Gola Arena is set for 1 p.m.
