Volleyball to Welcome Three Explorers Next Fall

PHILADELPHIA- The La Salle volleyball team will welcome three talented freshman to campus next year for the 2018 season. The trio of future Explorers were announced by head coach Caitlin Schweihofer on Tuesday.

The incoming class will bring a wealth of talent to a blossoming young team that boasted the best conference record in program history this past season.

Lizzy Osborn is a 5'11" outside hitter from Beavertown OR, who was a two-time Cowapa League Player of the Year in her senior and junior campaigns.  Osborn led Valley Catholic to the 2017 State Finals while being named All-Tournament in her final year. A two-time First Team All-State performer, she played club volleyball for Portland Volleyball. In her sophomore and freshman campaigns, Osborn was named First Team All-League in addition to picking up a Second Team All-State selection in 2014.




21297Samantha Fulkerson-Bird joins the Explorers from Indianapolis, Ind., where she was two-year captain for her high school team, North Central. During her four years as a libero, Fulkerson-Bird was a 2017 Honorable Mention All-Country Team selection and All-Conference honoree. During her junior campaign, the libero received the Academic All-Conference Scholar Athlete award, while earning the Most Valuable Player of her team. Fulkerson-Bird led her club team, the Munciana Volleyball Club, to a third place finish in AAU Nationals in 2016.

Sarah Nahas hails from Shorewood, Illinois, where she enjoyed a four-year career at Joliet Catholic Academy. The 5'9" setter led her team to two runner-up titles in in the state tournaments in 2014 and 2015. Nahas was a 2017 Honorable Mention All-State selection by illprepvb.com, as well as a sportsownchicago.com All Star Team member. She was named to the All-Suburban Catholic Conference twice in her junior and senior campaigns. During the 2016 season, Nahas was named All-Conference by the Daily Southtown as well as All-Area in the Herald News. In her final season, she was named to the Meyer Valley and Asics Challenge All-Tournament teams.
