Women’s Basketball Hosts Fordham Wednesday for Senior Night

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's basketball team hosts the Fordham Rams on Wednesday for Senior Night at Tom Gola Arena. The Explorers will recognize seniors Jasmine Alston, Deja Bullock, Lisa Mintzer, and Micahya Owens in a ceremony before the 7 PM tip.

All-Time Series vs Fordham

The Explorers lead the all-time series with the Rams 34-12. The series dates back to 1983-84 season.
 
Scouting the Explorers
Senior Class Notes
-Led by seniors Jasmine Alston, Deja BullockLisa Mintzer and Micahya Owens, La Salle will enter the A-10 Championship as the highest-seeded Explorer team since head coach Jeff Williams was hired in 2010.
 
-Jasmine Alston is La Salle's all-time steals leader with 261 career steals, and is the only player in program history to appear in the top five in all-time rebounding and assists. The senior has 773 career rebounds (5th all-time) and 575 career assists (2nd all-time).
 
-Micahya Owens is currently 7th all-time in scoring at La Salle with 1,454 points and 6th all-time at in three-point field goals made (154).
 
-Lisa Mintzer is 4th all-time at La Salle with 86 career blocks and ranks 6th in the A-10 with 1.5 blocks in league play.
 
-Deja Bullock has appeared in 80 games in just three seasons despite redshirting in 2014-15.

Other Notes
-La Salle has engineered the second biggest turnaround in Division I basketball this season, going from 5 wins last season to 16 wins this year. Rider has made the largest turnaround this season, going 21-6 this season after an eight-win campaign last year.

-Amy Griffin leads the A-10 in scoring with 19.5 points per game. The junior has 50 blocks on the season, and needs just five more to set the single season La Salle record. 
 
-Sofilia Ngwafang tallied her first career double-double in the win over UMass, putting up 17 points and pulling down a career-high 11 rebounds. 

-Anemone Scheel finished with a career-high 13 points Saturday against UMass, including seven points during a 17-4 La Salle run to close the 2nd quarter and send the Explorers into halftime up 37-27.

Scouting the Rams
-Fordham has won three of their last four games to rebound from a four-game skid at the end January into February. The Rams are coming off a 66-52 win over first-place Dayton for Senior Day on Sunday at Rose Hill.
 
-Sunday's win over the Flyers was the first time the Rams have defeated Dayton in the regular season since January 7, 2001.
 
-Fordham's defense has been the stingiest in the A-10 this season, allowing just 55.4 points per game.
 
-G'mrice Davis is second in the NCAA with 12.3 rebounds per game behind only Washington's Chantel Osahor (14.9 rpg). The junior is seventh in the A-10 in scoring with 14.4 points per game.
 
A-10 Championship
Thanks to a new format for the Atlantic 10 Championship, La Salle has clinched a home game for the first round of the tournament. The Explorers will host their opening game at Tom Gola Arena on Saturday, February 25 at noon. Tickets will be available at the La Salle ticket office when brackets are announced on Thursday.
