NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The La Salle women's basketball team (16-12, 9-7 A-10) has earned the No. 6 seed in the A-10 Championship and will host No. 11 St. Bonaventure (9-19, 4-12 A-10) in the first round on Saturday at noon.
The 2017 A-10 Championship features a new, enhanced format, with six first-round games being played on campus sites, Saturday, Feb. 25 and Sunday, Feb. 26 before heading to Richmond, Va., Friday, Mar. 3 through Sunday, Mar. 5, for the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship final games.

La Salle topped SBU 57-45 on the road earlier this month, thanks in part to an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double from
Amy Griffin.
Micahya Owens and
Adreana Miller also both finished in double figures that night, with Owens going for all 13 of her points in the second half and Miller putting up 12.
Scouting the Explorers
-The Explorers finished the regular season with 16 wins, their most successful campaign since the 2006-07 team finished 19-11.
-Griffin poured in a career-high 37 points against Fordham on Wednesday, falling just two points shy of Jennifer Cole's record for points in a single game at La Salle. Cole dropped 39 in a 95-90 overtime loss at Valparaiso on January 3, 1992.
-Griffin connected on 18 field goals, surpassing Cole's record of 16 from the Valpo game. The 37-point performance matched Theresa Lisch of Saint Louis (Jan. 17, 2009) for most points scored in Tom Gola Arena.
-Jas Alston finished with 11 points and eight assists against the Rams, just two assists shy of her fifth double.
-Alston played in the 119th game of her career on Wednesday, the second most in program history behind Jennifer McGowan's 125 between 1988-93.
-Owens has suited up for 118 career games, which is third behind Alston, and is currently 7th all-time in scoring at La Salle with 1,458 points and needs 29 points to pass Tracey Sneed (1985-89) for 6th place all-time.
-Griffin needs just four blocks to tie Linda French's program record of 55 blocks, set during the 1985-86 season.
Scouting the Bonnies
-SBU fell 83-61 at Duquesne to finish the regular season on Tuesday.
-Mckenna Maycock finished with career highs in scoring (15 points) and assists (six) in the regular season finale. The sophomore has tallied double-figure scoring in three straight games and is looking to reach double figures in a fourth straight game for the first time in her Bonnies career.
-Junior Mariah Ruff matched her season high with five three-pointers Tuesday at Duquesne.
-Ruff's 107 assists this season rank 14th all-time in Bonaventure single season history. The 120 assists she dished out last season rank 10th in program history. Ruff's 272 career assists are nearing the program's all-time top 10 - Courtney Mattingly '03 is 10th with 300.
-The Bonnies hit a season-high eight threes Tuesday at Duquesne.
-Gabby Richmond's 35 blocks this year rank in a three-way tie for fifth in Bonnies season history along with Katie Healy's 2014-15 season and Donna Diota's 1981-82 campaign.
