ST. LOUIS - The La Salle University men's basketball team finishes out its regular season road schedule on Wednesday, March 1 with a matchup against Saint Louis. NEWS & NOTES
•The Explorers will be looking for a season sweep of the Billikens, whom they defeated at Tom Gola Arena by a score of 75-54 on Jan. 4.
•In its most recent outing, La Salle dropped an 84-71 contest to Massachusetts on Feb. 26.
•Sophomore
Pookie Powell scored a team-high 24 points and made a career-high five three-pointers, while junior
B.J. Johnson added 20.
•As a team, the Explorers connected on 12 three-pointers, one off the season high of 13 set at Drexel on Nov. 27.
•Johnson and Powell each set new career marks with five three-point field goals made in the contest against Massachusetts.
•Rebounding was a key in the contest with the Minutemen, as the home team held a decisive 40-24 advantage on the glass that led to a 14-2 edge in second-chance points.
•Since returning to the starting lineup against St. Bonaventure, Powell is averaging 15.0 points per game and over his last three games is scoring 17.0 ppg.Â
SCOUTING SAINT LOUIS
•The Billikens enter their final home contest of the season with a 10-19 record overall and a 5-11 mark in Atlantic 10 play.
•SLU recently snapped a three-game losing streak with a 61-60 win over Saint Joseph's on Feb. 25.
•A pair of seniors, Mike Crawford and Reggie Agbeko, will be honored on Senior Night following the contest on Wednesday.
•Behind Davell Roby's 11.7 points per game, Crawford and Agbeko rank third and fourth on the team in scoring at 9.7 and 8.9 ppg, respectively.
ALL-TIME SERIES
•La Salle trails the all-time series by a 12-8 margin, with the first meeting between the two schools coming all the way back in 1951.
•There was a 43-year gap between games in the series from 1963 until the 2005-06 season, when Saint Louis joined the A10.
•The Explorers handily defeated Saint Louis in the last game of the series earlier this season at Gola Arena.
•Nine different La Salle players found the scoring column in a 75-54 win.
•Sophomore Pookie Powell had 13 points, eight assists and four steals.Â
