Box Score SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The La Salle Baseball team (1-11) defeated Wofford (3-9), 7-6, on Tuesday night, earning its first win of the young season.
Every batter in the La Salle lineup had at least one hit, including
Austin Constantini who led off and went 5-for-5 with a double on the day.
Ben Faso, batting cleanup, turned on a pitch for a home run in the top of the fourth inning to increase La Salle's lead after Kevin McGowen's first inning single to score
Yan Carlo Rivera got them started. They'd score again later that inning on a
Brian Tagoe sac fly and continue to build their lead throughout the game.
Faso finished 2-for-5 with a double. Rivera was 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI's, and two stolen bases.
Starting pitcher
Matt Holt picked up the win for the Explorers, striking out six over five innings, surrendering only two earned runs and walking none. In relief,
Blake James and
Jorge Jimenez combined for four innings.
The Explorers are back at it again tomorrow, facing USC Upstate at 4:00 PM.
