PHILADELPHIA – The Dayton Flyers (21-18, 8-4) edged the La Salle softball team (14-17, 4-6) 2-1 in a pitcher's duel in the opening game of a three-game set at West Campus Field on Friday afternoon.
Lefty
Marlo Roadcap (L, 7-7) was perfect into the 5
th inning before Lisa Tassi doubled with one out and scored on a La Salle throwing error later in the inning. The Flyers made it a 2-0 game on a Katie Ryan RBI single with two outs in the 6
th.
Michelle Hagarty cut into the Dayton lead in the home half of the 6
th with a solo homer off Manda Cash (W, 12-8).
Emma Schweigert later doubled with two outs in the 7
th but the Explorers couldn't get the tying run in to score.
La Salle will look to bounce back on Saturday as the two teams play a doubleheader at West Campus Field beginning at 12 PM.
