Baseball To Face Penn in 26th Annual Liberty Bell Classic

Baseball

Baseball | April 17, 2017

PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle Baseball team is set to play against Penn in the 26th annual Liberty Bell Classic Championship game at Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday at 5:30 PM.

The Explorers first defeated Lehigh in the first round of the tournament and then Delaware in the semi-finals in order to move on to the championship game. La Salle's only Liberty Bell Championship victory to date was in 2006. Penn returns to the championship game for the first time since 2012 when the Quakers were defeated by St. Joseph's.

La Salle looks to bounce back from a winless weekend on the road against Miami (Ohio). Matt Holt (2-1, 3.72 ERA) will be starting on the mound. Holt pitched in each of the team's previous Liberty Bell Classic games this season.

Penn, alternatively, has had the hot hand lately. The Quakers recently swept Princeton in four games over the weekend. They combined to score 27 runs in their last two games alone.

Penn has compiled an 18-14 record this season but has done most of its damage at home where it has 12 wins in 13 games. In neutral sites, however, the Quakers are just 3-6.

Tickets to the Liberty Bell Classic Championship will be $5 and can be purchased at the West ticketing windows of Citizens Bank Park.

Entrance into the ballpark will be at the Majestic Clubhouse Store. Parking can be found in the Phillies "S" lot, which is located on Pattison Avenue, across from X-Finity Live. A coin flip determined that La Salle will be considered the home team and will occupy the first base dugout.
